Stovetop Grilled or Oven Roasted Garlic Scapes

Did you know that you can roast your garlic scapes?  The entire garlic scape is edible and, when prepared this way, takes on a delicious flavor that isn’t too spicy.  Try it out!


Preparation:
– toss the garlic scapes with a generous amount of extra virgin olive oil
– sprinkle with Borsari seasoned salt (Whole Foods) or salt and pepper, toss again

Stovetop Grill Pan or Cast Iron Skillet:
Heat pan over high heat till hot, then spread the scapes in a single layer, turning after they brown/singe a bit, about 10-12 minutes total. Thicker ones may need a few extra minutes. The entire garlic scape is edible. (Thick ends might be a bit tough like the end of an asparagus. Discard.)

Oven:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spread the scapes in a single layer in a roasting pan, turning them after they brown/singe a bit, about 10 minutes total. Thicker ones may need a few extra minutes. The entire garlic scape is edible. (Thick ends might be a bit tough like the end of an asparagus. Discard.)
