Circle Brook Farm End of 2016 Season “Stock Up”

We will be offering one additional share to be delivered during the week of November 20th (Thanksgiving week). This will be a “stock up” share and will include various vegetables that store well, so that you will be able to enjoy produce from the farm well into the winter months as well as provide veggies for your Thanksgiving feast. The delivery will be one day earlier than your normal pickup day. Friday groups will receive their stock up share along with their final regular share on the Friday before Thanksgiving. (more…)

Farm News – October 9, 2023

Hi Folks! We have broccoli and cauliflower heading up. We will be including cauliflower for those who have not yet received it this fall. We may begin distributing broccoli to some groups, otherwise it will be a choice of red cabbage or red Napa cabbage.

The last planting of beans is flowering but growing very slowly, which is normal with shorter days and cooler nights, but growth is impeded further by overcast skies. We hope to have a few more beans for you in the coming weeks. We will also try to send some cherry tomatoes to all groups over the next few weeks as well. (more…)

Farm News- October 7. 2010

Hi Folks,

The dry spell has officially ended! I guess it’s too much to ask, to have a balance between the sunshine and the rain and we have to accept the feast or famine pattern that has become the norm. Fortunately the fields here in Andover are very well drained and have been able to absorb the 7” of water that fell last week with no flooding. The greatest challenge during long rainy stretches is getting the harvesting done. (more…)

Farm News- July 23, 2009

Hi Everyone,

The continued dry spell enabled us to get somewhat caught up on the work we fell behind with during the monsoon. Unfortunately we are now falling behind on the planting and some of the other tasks normal to mid-July, such as tying up the tomatoes and harvesting the onions.

We have finished harvesting the garlic and it is hung up to cure. The harvest looks good with good size bulbs and not much problem with rot. It will be in the share again in two or three weeks. (more…)

Farm News – Oct 31, 2013

Hi Folks,

It was a cold week here on the farm. We’ve had frost every morning and temperatures dropped into the mid-twenties on several nights. Even some of the more hardy crops have sustained a little damage, but nothing substantial. The principal effect of the low temperatures is slow growth and maturation. We have thousands of broccoli and cauliflower just beginning to head up but they take a bit longer than normal to reach harvestable size. Those who received broccoli or cauliflower last week will likely get Napa cabbage this time around. For those who got cabbage we will do our best to send broccoli or cauliflower. (more…)

Farm News- July 21,2011

Hi Folks,

It was another week of hot and dry weather here at the farm. We really need some rain! It looks as though we may get some Monday afternoon from thunderstorms, hopefully sans hail and damaging winds. We are beginning to transplant the fall brassica crop out into the field and a little moisture would certainly help the plants to take root. (more…)

Farm News- November 5, 2009

Hello Everyone,

We are forecast to have mostly clear skies this week, though somewhat brisk temperatures. I am hoping that abundant sunshine, which has been lacking for most of the season, will speed the growth of many crops which have been developing rather slowly. (more…)
