Hi Everyone, Just the facts this week folks.
There will be some type of lettuce this week, most likely an heirloom romaine that is speckled with red called Forellenschlus (a mouthful I know, but so is the lettuce). Broccoli is coming in heavy (and pretty), so if you didn’t get it last week (a few did) you will probably receive it this week. Otherwise it will be kohlrabi. On the pea front there are a lot more sugar snaps maturing now, so if you got shell peas last week… you know the drill. We have radishes for those who got shorted last week and salad turnips for those who didn’t. The spinach is still abundant; we’re shooting for 2 bunches per share again.
In the mustard green class we have a 3 way choice: tatsoi, broccoli raab, or arugula. For bitter greens it will be escarole or endive (frisée). The frisée can be mixed into salads; the escarole is more commonly cooked. In herb land we have cilantro or dill. Summer squash is just starting – probably next week.
The share for this week will be: Lettuce, peas, broccoli/ kohlrabi, frisée or escarole, radishes/ salad turnips, bok choy, broccoli raab or tatsoi or arugula, spinach and dill or cilantro.
Enjoy! Farmer John
