Circle Brook Farm
Circle Brook Farm

Hi Folks! The beautiful weather continues, so long as you are not a duck or a farmer. We have a chance at some precipitation around mid-week, keep your fingers crossed! I will do my version of a rain dance – head out into the field with my little seeding tractor (Allis Chalmers G) to try to do some planting. If there is any moisture up there in the clouds, that is usually a sure-fired way to coax it down. In the meantime, the sprinklers are spinning, and the pumps are humming.

Greens continue to make their comeback, this week with broccoli raab as a choice with the arugula, as well as baby bok choi. The beans are on sabbatical this week but will be back soon. We finally have enough sweet corn coming in so that we can give you all a few more ears. The eggplant production had dropped precipitously, but it has picked up some in recent weeks. We will send it as an “extra” for this week. We have added Napa cabbage into the rotation with broccoli and cauliflower.

The share will be: choice of arugula or broccoli raab, colored peppers, baby bok choi, summer squash, salad turnips, cauliflower/broccoli/Napa cabbage, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, leeks, sweet corn, and choice of an herb (parsley, cilantro, thyme). Premium shares will also include radishes and a few Rattlesnake beans.

There will be Sweetie apples and Asian pears for the fruit share. We have sunflowers for the final flower share. The mushroom share will be chestnuts.

Enjoy! Farmer John
