Circle Brook Farm

Hello Folks! So, it was another beautiful weather week with no rain. We have a chance of getting some showers Tuesday night into Wednesday morning- we can only hope. We may also have our first frost of the fall later this week. If we do it only be a light one, affecting only the most sensitive plants such as basil and sweet potatoes. We have already begun digging the sweet potatoes and this week you will be digging them too!

We are sending the first of the winter squash this week- spaghetti. We have a late planting of plum tomatoes that are ripening, but ever so slowly due to the cooler nights. We will be trying to get some to all groups over the next couple of weeks to finish out the tomato season. The spaghetti squash will keep if you want to wait to use the tomatoes with it. We are finishing the Napa/kohlrabi rotation this week. The root veggies for the week are radishes – everyone’s favorite, lol. Remember they lose their bite when you cook them – they are great in stir fries or soups.

The share will be: Lettuce, choice of arugula or broccoli raab, colored peppers, spaghetti squash, Napa cabbage or kohlrabi, radishes, sweet corn, choice of dill or cilantro, baby bok choi, scallions, string beans, and sweet potatoes. Premium shares will also include escarole or endive and Swiss chard. There will be hot peppers as an “extra”.

The fruit share will be: Macoun apples and Starkrimson pears.

Enjoy all the sweets! Farmer John
