2024 Registration

Happy winter everyone! It is time to register for the 2024 CSA season!   Know your farmer. Know your food.

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  CSA members pre-pay for “shares” in a local organic farm at the beginning of the season in March when the farmer most needs the money. Then during the harvest from June through November, the farmer delivers a weekly assortment of vegetables, herbs, and some fruit.

100% of your food dollars go to the person who is growing it. You support sustainable, local agriculture and get freshly picked organic produce at reasonable prices.  In addition, you know the farmer growing your vegetables and can visit the farm – establishing a personal connection with your food supply. Farm News – July 1, 2024

Hello everyone! We made it through the first heat wave and received about an inch and a half of rain since my last update. The precipitation came from two passing storms, the second of which dropped an inch in less than an hour. This is not ideal, because much of the water runs off and does not have a chance to soak in, but we take what we can get. (more…)

Farm News – September 23, 2024

Hi All! The weather has certainly been beautiful lately – plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures. The only issue for us here on the farm is that there has been no rain now for nearly two weeks. Several predicted rain events never materialized and the best chance for precipitation this week are several days offering a fifty percent chance. We are busy moving the sprinklers around the fields to germinate seeds and keep the crops growing, but some help from Mother Nature would be greatly appreciated. (more…)

Hi Folks, Happy Spring!

Almost summer, I guess, but for now we have not had any of the blistering heat which that season is sure to bring. Things are going very well on the farm – the weather has been relatively cooperative thus far and all my workers have arrived on time. For the last several seasons poor weather has set us back with spring planting and we have needed to postpone the first delivery a couple of times. Because Thanksgiving is so late this year, we were able to plan the start of the season for the second week of June.  Ironically, we now have an abundance of greens – arugula, spinach, and lettuces ready for which we are scrambling to find buyers. Farm News – July 8, 2024

Hello everyone! First the weather – it’s too damn hot! The good news is that we had a nice rain last Friday night – almost an inch. Of course, it began as I was riding my seeding tractor up and down seedbeds planting carrots. I had three beds to finish, when the first round of storms chased me out of the field. It’s a trick I’ve developed over the years to bring on the showers, my personal rain dance! (more…)

Farm News – August 5, 2024

Hello Folks! So, we have quickly gone from not enough rain to way too much. We received nearly two inches in the past 4 days, and the worst part is that it has come with powerful storms and damaging winds. One of our greenhouses was severely damaged and two exceptionally large and many smaller trees have fallen on our fences. Additionally, the trellising for our tomatoes and cucumbers has been damaged, as has the netting we suspended over the watermelons to keep the crows from destroying the crop. The saturated ground makes it impossible to seed fall crops and difficult to dig the potato crop. But we do what we must- we have already partially repaired the greenhouse and are working on clearing the trees and mending the fences. (more…)
