Farm News – October 7, 2024
Hello all! So, still no rain and none in sight – oh well. The temperatures have been agreeable, but we are predicted to drop into the thirties for two nights at the beginning of next week. Hopefully, we will squeak by without a frost.
We still have a lot of sweet corn that we are waiting on to mature, but it is doing so rather slowly due to the cool nights. We have done our best to control the earworm, but most have at least a small one, so we will be cutting the tips off. We have some nice spinach for you, and expect to have a lot more during the final weeks of the season. We will be trying to complete the colored pepper distribution, for those who did not get any last time.
The share will be zucchini, spinach, lettuce, radishes, leeks, rainbow carrots, sweet corn, edamame soybeans, Napa cabbage, baby bok choi, choice of an herb and ornamental gourds. Premium shares will also include escarole and kale.
The fruit share will be Jonagold apples and Devoe pears and the mushroom share will be Lions Mane.
Enjoy! Farmer John
