Circle Brook Farm
Circle Brook Farm

Hello everyone! First, as always, the weather report. We had ¾” of rain last week. It was not nearly what we were hoping for, but enough to keep us from total despair. The mild temperatures and abundant sunshine are certainly a worthy consolation, and a great benefit to the crops and those who tend them.

We finally have lettuce back in the shares for this week, and lots of other lovely greens as well. The summer squash continues to abound, so we will hold off another week on the winter squash. We are in between plantings on the string beans, but we have some edamame soybeans to fill in for the legume category. Napa cabbage and kohlrabi will be in rotation over the next two weeks in the brassica slot. We have okra as an “extra,” grab some if you like it because this will be the last chance for the season.

The share will be: Swiss chard, choice of arugula or broccoli raab, lettuce, yellow onions, colored peppers, summer squash, beets with tops, kohlrabi or Napa cabbage, tomatoes, purple potatoes, sweet corn, edamame soybeans, and choice of an herb (parsley, thyme, basil). Premium shares will also include shishito peppers and choice of endive or escarole.

The fruit share will be Ginger Gold apples and Bartlett pears. The mushrooms will be blue oysters.

Enjoy! Farmer John
